My name is Carol Baker and I am running for a seat on the School Board of Consolidated High School District 230 in the April 7, 2009 election.

I currently live in Orland Park, IL with my husband and two children. We previously lived in Hickory Hills, IL, another community served by District 230. In total, we have lived within the communities served by District 230 for 14 years.

I have spent my entire professional carreer involved in public high school education. I taught high school science (primarily Physics, Honors Physics, and Advanced Placement Physics) for 18 years in the neighboring high school district (Community High School District 218). Three years ago I left the classroom to become an administrator for District 218 as the "Director of Curriculum for Science and Music".

I believe in and support public education, and I send my children to the public schools in our community. My son is currently a student in Distict 230 and my daughter attends a public elementary school in District 135.

I am not a politician, I am an educator. The only office I seek is that of a school board member. As an experienced public high school teacher, a public high school administrator, and as a current parent of a District 230 student, I feel I bring a unique background to my candidacy.

Please see the other pages on my web site for more details on my background. If you have a question for me, please feel free to send me an email.

Regardless if you vote for me or another candidate, please vote on April 7!
